'Minecraft: Education Edition' Is Available On Chromebooks Ahead of a new school year that could see students not step into a classroom, Microsoft is bringing Minecraft: Education Edition to Chromebooks. Chrome OS Minecraft: Education Edition will allow cross-platform play with Windows, iPad, and Mac versions. Students will be able to socialize and collaborate on projects regardless of their device. Microsoft is also updating the game to add 11 new STEM lessons as well as a Minecraft world to teach students about pollination and bees. An improved lesson plan library and the ability to track learning abilities are also part of the update too. According to the company, Chrome OS, iPad, and Windows devices will automatically install the update. However, Mac users will need to download the update manually. Schools with Minecraft: Education Edition installed in their classrooms won't require a change in their subscription. The company will also add the Chrome OS version of Microsoft 365 Education A3 and A5 licenses. Just another wordpress site Minecraft: Education Edition is available since the year 2016. It's not unusual that it's only been made available to Chromebooks this year. Google's computing platform is the leading one for education. According to the company there were more than 30 million Chromebooks being used in schools across the globe in 2019. Chromebooks were responsible for 60 percent of all laptops and tablets purchased in the US for K-12 classrooms in 2018.
